Toshiba multi-functions copiers
Version 0.4 - 21 octobre 2021
General informations
-
This page provides useful information on the use of the Institute's multi-function copiers.
These machines, one per floor, offer three functions: photocopying, printing, scanning with email (scan to email)
Each of them can be used on both sides, in black and white or in color.
-
These devices are Toshiba e-studio3015AC.
-
IMPORTANT: Copiers should only be accessed by the names below. Never by their IP address.
-
IMPORTANT: When you add a copier as a printer on your computer, do not enable its sharing.
Need to explicitly designate copiers
-
All the computers of the Institute are divided into ten subnets (IP subnets corresponding to Ethernet VLANs). Therefore, not all computers can see each other directly. When it wants to communicate with an object that is not in its subnet, it cannot discover it automatically by broadcast (as with the Bonjour (Apple) or Netbios (Windows) protocols).
-
Since the copiers are not in the subnet of the platforms and research teams, it is necessary that the user explicitly designates the copier to reach it from his computer, because the computer will not automatically "discover" the copiers.
-
The network objects have IP addresses, but mostly DNS names, which are much easier to remember (like www.ijm.fr). Everything internal to the Institute is named on the domain ijm.univ-paris-diderot.priv. All computers connected to the network by DHCP have this domain by default. So naming copieur-etage2 is the same as naming copieur-etage2.ijm.univ-paris-diderot.priv.

Additional information given by Toshiba support
-
For Windows 7, the driver is still compatible even though Microsoft no longer maintains this system. We can provide you with an old version if you have problems. Please note that since a certain KB500565 from Microsoft, users can no longer install a driver if they are not administrator of their computer, this impacts all drivers from all vendors. See
this link
-
The Mac PPD is the last one to date, released on 07/2021, so I hope it remains compatible with 10.15 and Macs with M1 processors (especially those that are > 11.4 so with Rosetta2 disabled).
-
No recommendation of IPP protocol, because we use by habit and historically the TCP/IP Port 9100, but you can use the IPP protocol without problem
-
The default settings for the scan function can only be adjusted on the copier screen.
Via User functions/User tab/scan/, 7 pages of modifiable settings, validation by OK.
- Resolution according to the modes: Greyscale, Color and Auto Color, Black on page 3,4,5
- B&W versus color/auto color: on page 1
- Duplex versus double-sided: on page 1 for double-sided select R°V° Book.
